| Immediate regrets after the event |
Shortly afterwards, Dani has donned her dressing gown, and she urges Mathew to get dressed quickly; “I can’t believe we did that!” she exclaims,
| "I can't believe it, either!" |
and nor can Mathew.
| "Skiving up there, is he?" |
Downstairs, Garry asks Dan the barman where Mathew is, and is told that he went upstairs a while ago; “Skiving!” he comments.
He is on his way up when Vicky accosts him, wanting tomorrow night off for her and Mathew.
| "Oh, charming, Garry!" |
“Dani deals with the rotas – ask her,” he replies abruptly.
| Mathew is in a hurry to go |
When he arrives in the flat, Mathew is fully dressed and just leaving;
| "I'm going to have a shower!" |
Garry tells Dani, “I know you’re grumpy, but . . .” He gets no further, as she decides she is going for a shower.
| Vicky is dissuaded from going upstairs |
Down in the bar, Vicky wants to go and see Dani about this evening off, but Mathew advises that Dani is busy with Garry at the moment.
| "What do you mean, obsessed with Ed?" |
Kelly is on the phone and becomes indignant with DS Davies; “What do you mean – obsessed with Ed? Did Sioned say that? It’s disgusting –
| "You haven't even charged her?" |
“and you haven’t charged her – where’s the justice in that?”
| Iolo and Tyler are ignored by Kelly |
Iolo and Tyler approach her, but she does not want to talk with them,
| "We're not going until you tell us what's wrong" |
so they follow her into number 10 and refuse to leave until she tells them what is wrong.
| "Sioned says that I'm obsessed with Ed!" |
“Sioned said that I’m obsessed with Ed, and can’t handle the fact that he wanted her and not me!” Kelly squeals, “I’m not obsessed with him!”
| "Well, perhaps you are, a little bit" |
Tyler points out that perhaps she is, but not in the way Sioned has suggested; concern about Ed seems to have taken over her life, and she can talk of nothing else.
| "This has to stop, Kel!" |
Iolo advises, “This has to stop, Kel – you always help the underdog and you always get hurt – it’s not fair on you.”
| "How long can you stay, then?" |
Hannah is once more with Chester, who asks her how long she can stay in Cwmderi; she replies, “Diane says I can stay until Sara’s baby is born, but I want to be here for a few months at least.
| "If I could get a job . . ." |
“If I could get a job, I might have a better chance of staying, and I would be more independent if I had some money coming in – anything would do.”
| Ah – young love! |
Chester appears to have had a brainwave.
| "Please can we have tomorrow night off?" |
Vicky goes up and pleads with Dani for her and Mathew to be given tomorrow night off, as Lightening are playing at Swansea, and she has been given two free tickets.
| "Yes, that's fine" |
Dani immediately agrees,
| "Don't tell Mathew" |
and Vicky adds, “Don’t tell Mathew. He’s been so lovely to me lately, I want to do something nice for him –
| "I really like him, Dani!" |
“I really like him, Dani!”
| "You know when Madge is away . . ." |
Chester suggests to Garry that he will need cover in the chippy when Madge goes away,
| "You can do a few shifts" |
but is told that he can help by doing a few shifts. Chester then invents a couple of school projects which he has to do; “You’re always telling me that this is a very important year,” he stresses,
| "The fast food queen of Sydney!" |
“But don’t worry – I have the answer – Hannah! She is going to be around for a few months – and she’s the fast food queen of Sydney!”
| "I thought it was all barbecues in Australia!" |
Garry was under the impression that it was all barbecues in Australia, and points out that she will have to undergo a trial first. “Go over to the chippy now, and I’ll be over later to see how you’re doing.”
| "I've never fried a fish in my life!" |
“Why didn’t you tell me you were doing that?” Hannah demands, “I’ve never fried a fish in my life! Chester maintains that it is about time she learned.
| "I've got a surprise for you!" |
Behind the bar, Vicky tells Mathew that she has a surprise for him; he looks very guilty.
| "It's all going round in my head" |
Kelly tells Tyler that everything is going round in her head, and she has not got an off switch; they are talking about someone who is dead. Tyler emphasises that they do not know that for sure,
| "A body would have washed up by now" |
and Iolo reckons that a body would have washed up by now.
| "We might never find his body" |
Kelly sobs, “We might never find his body – we won’t be able to have a funeral and say goodbye properly – and it’s all my fault! If I had stopped him leaving that night – I should have known!
| "I should have known what he meant!" |
“He said it would be better for everyone if he were not here. I should have known what he meant –
| "I'll never forgive myself!" |
“and I’ll never forgive myself for that!” She rushes upstairs.
| Mathew does not look very overjoyed |
Vicky cannot resist telling Mathew what the surprise is, and that Dani has given them the evening off; “We’re staying overnight with a friend, and everything –
| "It's all arranged" |
“it’s all arranged, and Mam is looking after Nicky!” Mathew looks very sheepish.
| Hannah gingerly handles the fish . . . |
Hannah is not enjoying battering the fish;
| . . . all cold and slippery |
“It’s cold and slippery – and they stink!” she complains.
| "You want to stay in Cwmderi, don't you?" |
Chester is instructing her, and her next job is to prepare more better,
| A better malfunction occurs . . . |
but Hannah somehow manages to spray the stuff all over the place with the electric mixer,
| . . . and Madge does not look any too happy |
just as Garry walks in to see how she is doing. “I’m not cut out for this!” she exclaims
| Iolo and Tyler do the washing up |
Iolo and Tyler are doing the washing up at number 10 when Kelly comes back down, and is surprised that they are still there.
| "Ed knew what he was doing" |
They insist that she must stop blaming herself for what happened; “Ed knew what he was doing when he walked into the sea,” Iolo tells her,
| "There was nothing you could have done" |
“He didn’t want to be here, and there was nothing you or anyone else could have done about it. You listened to him, believed him and jumped through hoops to try and clear his name.”
| "I should have done more" |
Kelly still maintains that she should have done more, but is told that Sioned is the one who should be feeling guilty.
| Iolo hugs her |
Iolo hugs her and assures her that they will both be there for her.
| Garry is not impressed |
Garry is rather scathing about Hannah’s culinary performance; “I need someone I can rely on – you’ve cost me money already!
| "Look at the state of the place!" |
“Look at the state of the place!” Chester asks him if he has never made a mistake, and Hannah confesses that she does not see her future in a chip shop, but will find another job somewhere, and walks out.
| Kelly is taken to the Deri for a drink |
Kelly, Iolo and Tyler come into the Deri for a drink as Mathew asks Dani how they are going to deal with what happened.
| "Just act normally!" |
Her terse reply is, “Forget what happened and just act normally!”
When Vicky boasts to Garry about their forthcoming evening in Swansea, he muses,
| Garry thinks he will take Dani somewhere exotic |
“I think I should whisk Dani off somewhere – leave it to me!” Dani and Mathew look at each other.
