Jason is even feeling underneath the cupboards at APD when Dai comes in; “There’s no need to ask what you’re doing here!” Dai says, “I said the same thing to Diane – I had work to do. There’s nothing worse than shops on a bank holiday, is there?”

Jason agrees that work is a more attractive option than traipsing around shops.
Dai suggests, “You can help me with the paperwork if you like – we’ll start with Garry Monk’s bill. I called at the Deri, but there’s no sign of him. We finished the job on time, and he’s already had three days’ leeway.”

Jason is understandably looking anxious, and replies that there is no point in ringing Garry now.

Dai imagines that Garry has gone off somewhere, gallivanting.

| Jason breaks the news to Dai |
Jason confesses, “There’s no point ringing Garry, because he came in with the cash on Friday. You’d better sit down, Dai – he brought the cash in an envelope – I put it down there, then turned my back for a second, and next thing, it had vanished!

“Someone stole it!”

| "Peace offering, is it?" |
Vicky gives Mark an Easter egg; “A peace offering for landing Mam in hospital, is it?” demands Mark.

Debbie stresses that Vicky was trying to get Kath home, and Mark tells her that he will get her an Easter egg tomorrow; “They’re always cheaper after Easter!”

Debbie wants some help in the café,

| "Oh – I wanted to go to Tenby" |
but Vicky fancies a day out in Tenby and Mark has to go to the hospital, as he fears that drug dealer might turn up. Debbie suggests helping her in the café this morning, an afternoon in Tenby and to hospital in the evening. She also insists that if Kath is back on the tablets, the blood test would show it;

Meanwhile, Josh is walking down the High Street, and asks Eifion for some help; “I’m looking for a friend, Kath Jones – she said she has family here.”

Eifion replies that her son's partner, Debbie, runs the café, and as it is Bank Holiday, she will probably open late this morning.

When the old man asks where the Joneses live, Eifion becomes suspicious, so Josh goes.

Dai exclaims, “It doesn’t make sense! Why haven’t the police contacted me?”

Jason, rather shamefaced, admits he has not reported it to them. “We’re talking about £5,000 here – not pocket money!” shouts Dai, “How could you be so irresponsible?”

Jason explains exactly where he put the envelope, and originally thought that it had fallen on the floor or something had been put on top of it.

At the café, Mark moans that no-one will come in there on a Bank Holiday;

right on cue, Kelly, Iolo and Eifion come in; Kelly has her protest leaflets.

“There’s no point now,” Eifion tells her, “I’ve ordered the wood for the pens!”

“The abattoir, you mean!” rages Kelly, “Shooting birds is a blood sport!” Predictably, Eifion describes it as a part of rural life, and Kelly squeals, “That doesn’t make it right!”
Mark sees Josh approaching through the alley, and warns Debbie; she thinks that the old man looks dodgy, so she and Mark hide in the kitchen, leaving Kelly in charge.

He comes in and tells Kelly, “I haven’t seen a friend for a few days, and want to send her flowers – Kath Jones.”

Kelly is not sure they allow flowers in hospital, so Josh asks,

“Is she in Glangwili?” [Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen] Kelly is unsure if she is still there, but having learned the information he required, Josh leaves.

Dai visits Jason at home, asking if anyone has been spending more than usual; “That Vicky was buying a lot of Easter eggs at the shop this morning,” Dai notes, suspiciously,

but Jason points out they were chocolate, not Fabergé eggs. He also adds that no-one came into APD after Garry on Friday,

There is a knock on the door and the expensive pram is delivered; while Jason signs for the package,

Dai looks at the picture of the pram on the box and seems to reach a conclusion.

Mark and Debbie emerge from the kitchen, and are concerned when they hear that Kelly told the visitor that Kath was in hospital; they rush off,

Later, (after Gwen has taken over) Kelly takes chocolates to number 7 to say sorry for her earlier outburst; “I feel so passionately about it,”

Iolo offers to distribute her leaflets, but Tyler points out he cannot do it today as they are going out. As her bribe has not had the desired effect, Kelly grabs the chocolates and takes them away with her.

| Josh turns up at the hospital |
Josh arrives at Kath’s hospital bed, much to her surprise. He tells her that he was outside the bedsit last week, and asked around. “Your son was with some girl,” he says,

and Kath informs him that it was Debbie’s daughter, Vicky, and that things got out of hand, hence her presence in the hospital with concussion and high blood pressure.

As he rushes in with Debbie, Mark demands what the old man is doing there, and Kath calls him a friend. Debbie warns him not to make a scene, or Kath might have a relapse.

Josh answers, “She’s just a friend. Debbie wants to know how he knows her Mam, Dol. “We go back years,” Josh begins, but Kath, wanting to stop this conversation before it goes any further,

drops her beaker of water, insisting that she is tired and wants them to stop.

“It says out there ‘two visitors’ – keep away from my family from now on – right?” Mark says, menacingly. Josh leaves.

At the Deri bar, Vicky complains that she was supposed to be going to Tenby; Dai sympathises that she will not be getting her chips and icecream.

Kelly confronts Dai, “A little bird tells me that you’re supplying Eifion with materials for his slaughterhouse!”

Dai replies that the little bird had better be careful, or someone will shoot him. Kelly goes on, “You think that’s funny, do you?

Dai explains that it will boost the local economy, attracting visitors to the Deri and the café. Kelly adds, “And APD! Lining your own pockets through murder! Nice one, Dai!”

and Dai takes great delight in making a show of signing it. Kelly is disgusted.

Mark asks if his mother is sure that the stranger is not pushing more tablets on to her; “How many more times?”

she answers, “He’s not pushing anything – I’m never going back to the tablets!”

Debbie did not like the way the man looked at her, which ‘gave her the creeps’.
“You still haven’t explained what you were doing at Mam’s place ,” Debbie continues, “And why she went and left you on your own,”

but Kath does not know the reason for that. Mark says that she will not be released until her blood pressure has reduced.

As they leave, both Mark and Debbie know there is something that Kath is not telling them;

when he sees them go, Josh, who has been hiding somewhere, returns to Kath’s ward.

Jason arrives at the Deri and informs Eifion that the materials he ordered are being delivered first thing tomorrow,

and suggests that APD could construct the pens for him. Eifion asks him to bring an estimate over when the stuff is delivered.

Josh gives Kath a locket on a chain, to bring her good luck; she regrets that she showed him Dol’s letter and started this whole business, but he is glad, although regretting what has happened to her. “I’m glad I saw Debbie earlier,” he says, “But she seems a bit of a handful!”

Kath recommends that it is better to leave things alone,

but he does not think he can do that. “She doesn’t need to know about me for now,” he tells Kath, “Your family has enough to worry about.”

who assures Eifion that they will be taking action, rather than just words.
Jason has had a phone call from Sara, advising that she and Diane are having something to eat in town.

“Sara’s paying, is she?” enquires Dai, and then goes on, “She’s got enough cash now to buy a brand new pram – I think you said £1,000.”

Jason asks what he is trying to suggest, as they managed to find the pram for only half that price online.

| Dai expounds his reasoning . . . |
Dai spells it out, “Last week you told me you wanted a pay rise – couldn’t afford a new pram. This week, you can afford it, you buy rounds here, you didn’t phone the police – because you didn’t want to get caught, stealing from your own family!”

Dai’s voice has increased in volume, so that all the other customers are listening, as Jason insists he would never do such a thing.
